Written by Jeanne the day after what would have been Our Mims' 30th birthday: Monday, March 8, 2004

Yesterday would have been Mims' 30th birthday, so I went to Calumet to pay my respects. I stood in the cemetery envisioning her stone in place, knowing that no other stone there was purchased with more dedication and love as hers. No other stone will carry the meaning of hers. Once it is placed, it will serve as a beacon for fans. These horses may belong to others on paper but they belong to US in the cosmic justice system.

I know ALL the Calumet horses were loved. Could there be a more tragic story than Alydar's? Our world will never be able to forget him. Few horses can tug the hearts strings more than him. I think his stone serves as a constant reminder of what can go wrong.

But the story of Mims' journey, her return to grace and the final outcome of going home... Our Mims buried in that cemetery with a beautiful stone purchased by her adoring fans, never to be forgotten again... a good and happy ending.

It was an incredible feeling standing next to her grave knowing all that has taken place and that will soon take place.
